ARTIST PROFILE: SCOTT MORRISON (MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA)

Scott Morrison is a sound and video artist previously based in Sydney, now Melbourne, Australia. His practice encompasses live performance, gallery installation and festival screenings that have focused towards the synergistic properties of the moving image. Morrison has had numerous solo and group exhibitions nation wide and his audio visual works have screened extensively nationally and abroad. His primary research and output has fallen under the title of ballad(s) for quiet horizons. This body of work details and further develops the artist’s appreciation of Australia’s rural landscape. It is an exploration and abstraction of natural occurrence, rhythmic meditations of place and how familiar experiences can be re-interpreted, re-imagined and rendered anew.

Scott will present Monolith Project, a trio with Werner Dafeldecker and Lawrence English in the Performance program, next coming to Brisbane Powerhouse.

ARTIST PROFILE: ANNE COLOMES (BORDEAUX, FRANCE)

Anne Colomes is an artist working with drawing, video and text. Her work often leads to things that lie hidden beneath the image. She is interested in dealing with inner natures, unfathomable spaces and unattached landscapes, as well as things that have the potential to drift away. At the moment Anne is inspired by geology and poetry. She is currently living and working in Bordeaux where she teaches contemporary drawing at the School of Fine Arts.

Anne's work will be presented in the Performance program at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
